Stop Canberra Lightrail

Description

This light rail option for Canberra won't solve any problems, if any it will cause more problems for more people.

What will solve problems is different ways of thinking to solve problems... Like staggered timings for government workers, why does everyone have to be at work between 9am and 5pm? Why not make it more flexible arrive at 7am finish at 3pm, or even better start at 10am and finish at 6pm or only work 3 or 4 days a week, 10 - 12 hour days?!

How about work from home, did you know that 17% of traffic is reduced during school holidays because parents don't have to drive their kids to school! Hang on... Don't we have buses to drive kids to school?! Or do all kids now days have to arrive in their parents SUV's to show off? - Fuck off and catch the bus you stuck up fucks!

If people could work from home almost every day the reduction of traffic on roads and infrastructure would drop dramatically?! But this reduces the impact of income for governments!!! Especially a lot of the Government workers that just do work on their work PC's. Surely it isn't that hard to read and action a few emails from home that relate to work, and maybe only go in for the odd meeting (which could be done over video links) or a conference that...Oh yeah, the do that over video too!

So unless your job actually requires, face to face customer service and or some type of physical aspect to it, such as to actually move items or to install or fix something. Really, there is very little need to drive to work to do your job?! Crazy right? I mean it's almost futuristic or something?!

If anything, the future shouldn't be transporting of people, it should be the transporting of information... The idea of taking people to work, is old and very out dated. The future should be about transporting of information to people.

Imagine how good would it be to have a house anywhere in Australia, chose where you wanted to live that wasn't dictated by how long you are willing to waste with traveling to and from work. You could and should have the flexibility to live anywhere, on the beach, in the outback, or at your family's favorite hide away holiday spot, in a Caravan. With super high speed optical fiber cable broadband internet, this could be very well achieved and change the way we have been approaching our working life style and make it more about our own lifestyle.

With a computer or smart mobile device, log into your work server, put in your user name, your password and access your work emails and do all your work from the comfort where you enjoy the most. Talk to others via video link, hold meetings and get stuff done faster quicker and soon as you have finished, log off, power down and walk away to be with the ones you love and enjoy the most.

Need something a little more secure, no worries. If local councils and local governments work together and create a business hub, close to local shops and services, people could still live anywhere in Australia, walk, ride, drive, to the local business hub. Swipe access in and through security doors, walk in to a per-arranged hot desk cubical arrangement, or if needed a internal secure office to access sensitive information, and work from there. These Business Hubs are accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year round, and with a flexible work environment when you log on to a computer, you swipe access card that will act like an old punch card where your hours will be recorded and with a flexible work arrangement it wouldn't matter the time you started or finished work, just as long as you did your work with in the time frame set with in your agreement you would still get paid electronically! Amazing isn't it!

This transport solution that the Canberra Government is trying to implement is nothing but a massive wast of time and resources that will become a disappointment for all as it will slowly rust and deteriorate and continue to absorb tax payers money to keep going for very few that will use it for other than tourism. It almost has the same ring to it as the Monorail scene in the Simpsons... Here is the link for those who might have missed this classic (www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDOI0c…)
